Why take a break in Eugendorf near Salzburg?

Eugendorf  is called the "Gateway to Salzburg" and rightfully so as it only takes ten minutes by car from here to the world famous City of Mozart. This charming town is also an ideal base for a longer stay in the countryside. In just a few minutes, you can get from Eugendorf to Salzburg’s wonderful lakes, to the hundreds of hiking and biking trails and to some of the best restaurants in SalzburgerLand.

Cycling up to the Salzkammergut
Several bike trails lead from Eugendorf into the neighbouring regions of the Alpine foothills. The routes range into the famous Salzkammergut and invite you for both pleasure cycling and racing cycling. Whether it’s hobby cyclists, families with children or sports freaks - everyone gets their money’s worth here. The perfectly designed biking trails are framed by lakes, mountains and greenery. Eugendorf has everything to offer, regardless of the level of tour. In the Salzburg Lake District, the trails are rather flat and perfect for pleasant day trips. Heading in the direction of the Salzkammergut, the routes become hillier. Road bike fans and mountain bikers can really gain their altitude metres here. Those looking to arrive with just a little baggage can take advantage of the many opportunities to rent bicycles in Eugendorf - be that with road bikes or E-Bikes.

Take a trip around the Gaisberg
The Gaisberg is rightly so Salzburg’s local mountain and is a paradise for hikers, athletes and nature lovers. From Eugendorf, you are easily within reach of several different starting points for a small tour around or on the Gaisberg. The most popular hike is the Gaisberg Looping Trail up at the Zistelalm. This is a popular starting point for the five kilometre tour which leads once around the mountain. If you want, you can always turn off the trail and opt spontaneously for another route. All hiking trails on the Gaisberg are very well marked.

Relax at one of the many lakes
When summer arrives, the Eugendorfers stream out onto the banks of the adjacent lakes. Swimming, boating and water sports - depending on one’s wishes you can take a trip to Wallersee, Mattsee and Obertrumer See, a bit further to the Turquoise-Blue Fuschlsee, try a beautiful hike to Mondsee or the ‘All-rounder’ Wolfgangsee. There are lawns and public beaches at each of these lakes. Here, relaxation and fun are guaranteed! If you are particularly motivated, you can climb one of the surrounding mountains after a swim. Here, too, the selection is huge.
